Bangkok had its beginnings as a humble town that served the Ayutthaya Kingdom. With the Kingdom’s fall a new capital city was declared which eventually inherited the name Bangkok. Today Bangkok is a sprawling metropolis that is home to an abundance of business, shopping and entertainment venues.
